Jake Navarro, The Dude Behind the One-Man Show

Welcome to my year-long journey from June 2015 to May 2016 entitled and stylized as MyCityATX.

I tell people this was an era in my life, because it truly was. Blood, sweat, tears, countless hours before, after, and during my retail job and full-time load at school went into this project. I'm so proud of what I created.

Music keeps me alive. Austin music kept me going through one of the toughest years in my life. I met so many talented artists, spent way too much on merch, and found some of the best music that is still floating around in my Spotify playlists today.

I bought a $20 voice recorder and went with it. I'd listen to EPs and find my favorite lyrics. I would geek out while speaking with the very artists that brought me to tears or let me release and let go of my rage along with theirs.

This blog is, and forever will be, an extension of me. I went on to graduate from Texas State University and accepted an offer at a downtown startup. I devoted my life to building a new and fresh career, and put this beaut on the back burner.

Almost a year and half later, I'm writing to let Austin know: I'm still here and better than ever.
